Products containing genetically modified organisms (GMOs) are not required to be labeled in the United States and therefore enter our lives and occupy our diets quite frequently.


The Non-GMO Project explains, "Most developed nations do not consider GMOs to be safe. In more than 60 countries around the world, including Australia, Japan and all of the countries in the European Union, there are significant restrictions or outright bans on the production and sale of GMOs."

Yet these food-like substances are packed at our local grocery store and served to us in restaurants with very little concern for how they affect us as humans.

According to the Institute for Responsible Technology, “Genetically modified foods have been linked to toxic and allergic reactions, sick, sterile and dead livestock, and damage to virtually every organ studied in lab animals.”

GMOs, or genetically modified organisms, are patented laboratory experiments ran by biotechnology companies that have entered into our food supply. The intended uses of GMOs on crops were to provide them with the ability to abstain direct herbicide application, encourage their own insecticide production, and offer greater yields. This, however, has not shown to be promising.

Instead, research has connected GMOs with various health problems and substantial environmental damage. Due to the widespread application of many of the top GMO-ridden crops (such as corn, soy, and canola), it is nearly impossible to avoid all exposure to these experimental food-like substances.
